SkICMP ActiveX Control is a lightweight and powerful ICMP (Ping and Traceroute) ActiveX control that can be used for network diagnosing, troubleshooting, and monitoring.

SkICMP ActiveX Control can be used from any 32-bit Windows development environment, including Visual Basic, Visual C++, and Delphi.

SkICMP ActiveX Control is capable of processing multiple Ping and/or multiple Traceroute requests simultaneously.

For instance, it allows to store a list of the remote machines to be monitored and can provide real-time information about their availability.

So, if instead of making a call to instantiate a remote object, the component should call SkICMP ActiveX Control first and get back the host address, or IP address, of the first available remote machine, and than try to access it.

This list can be maintained from the application itself, so the software developer doesn't need to do anything one that list is reconfigured.
